Cooler nights, shorter days, Halloween is on it's way! </center><br></br>

<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-sD8t_xZQVps/V-vYJhRv3qI/AAAAAAAAB54/Dnyn8gNGCKUPoo5ZP5KNMQY3_Frtd7luQCLcB/s1600/Paper+Roll+Halloween+Candles+2a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-sD8t_xZQVps/V-vYJhRv3qI/AAAAAAAAB54/Dnyn8gNGCKUPoo5ZP5KNMQY3_Frtd7luQCLcB/s320/Paper+Roll+Halloween+Candles+2a.jpg" width="237" /></a></div>
<br />
<center>
Here is a list of items you will need to create this project</center>
<br />
<center>
</center>
<br />
<center>
</center>
<br />
<br />
<center>
1. Plastic Gargoyle lawn fencing.</center>
<br />
<br />
<center>
2 Paper towel roll.</center>
<br />
<br />
<center>
3. Black, flat, latex paint or craft paint.</center>
<br />
<br />
<center>
4. Wax paper.</center>
<br />
<br />
<center>
5. Glue gun and glue sticks. </center>
<br />
<br />
<center>
6. Tea lights, you need two lights for each candle you make.</center>
<br />
<br />
<center>
7. Scissors.</center>
<br />
<br />
<center>
8. X-Acto knife.</center>
<br />
<br />
<center>
9. Masking tape, although, in this project, I used black electrical tape. Either are ok.</center>
<br />
<br />
<center>
10. One piece of white printer paper</center>
<br />
<center>
That's it, so lets get started! </center>
<br />
<center>
Picture below is what the plastic fencing looks like. I found mine at the Dollar Tree Store.</center>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-YvwDJwvQrdI/V-EzuJwJgeI/AAAAAAAAB2U/dr_NeK1oXD85xvvDHd0Hqct8gZ0NtYmhgCLcB/s1600/Paper+Roll+Gargoyle+candles+1a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="212" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-YvwDJwvQrdI/V-EzuJwJgeI/AAAAAAAAB2U/dr_NeK1oXD85xvvDHd0Hqct8gZ0NtYmhgCLcB/s320/Paper+Roll+Gargoyle+candles+1a.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<center>
What I did - I disassembled the fencing by cutting the Gargoyle's out with a pair of scissors and removed the plastic from the eyes with an X-acto knife.</center>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-WTlVVaTlXdk/V-E-ilNVo1I/AAAAAAAAB2s/rFhZTXkr1Hk4j8r6Ccs1JiwT0zvvOjS_wCLcB/s1600/Paper+Roll+Gargoyle+candles+4a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-WTlVVaTlXdk/V-E-ilNVo1I/AAAAAAAAB2s/rFhZTXkr1Hk4j8r6Ccs1JiwT0zvvOjS_wCLcB/s320/Paper+Roll+Gargoyle+candles+4a.jpg" width="291" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<center>
Now that the gargoyle is craved out I lightly sanded it creating a surface that paint can adhere to. I did not end up painting the ones I used here, as I liked how the sanding looked, you can get as creative with them as you please. </center>
<br />
<center>
Important</center>
<br />
Before using the glue gun, I highly recommend that you set up a bowl of cold water somewhere close by, in the case that the <b>very hot</b> glue, accidentally drips on you. Trust me on this one! Take the time to protect yourself. The quicker you get that hot glue into cold water the quicker you cool the <b>very hot</b> glue. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-cTlMBhFrBBg/V-FDWCzYS2I/AAAAAAAAB28/MDKXmIg5cHknaC5om4Sylu7E4yeOoH6hQCLcB/s1600/Ice+water.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-cTlMBhFrBBg/V-FDWCzYS2I/AAAAAAAAB28/MDKXmIg5cHknaC5om4Sylu7E4yeOoH6hQCLcB/s320/Ice+water.jpg" width="269" /></a></div>
<br />
<center>
Now take your paper towel roll and hold the Gargoyle up to it and mark where you want the eyes to be, you will have to cut a hole into the paper towel roll so that the light can come through.</center>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-8X2m8vSz0Zg/V-FNw43ZnWI/AAAAAAAAB3M/Jn-4rnyHy8AXTYrBTK5UYGoTn53kM0TSACLcB/s1600/Paper+Roll+Candle+a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-8X2m8vSz0Zg/V-FNw43ZnWI/AAAAAAAAB3M/Jn-4rnyHy8AXTYrBTK5UYGoTn53kM0TSACLcB/s320/Paper+Roll+Candle+a.jpg" width="189" /></a></div>
<br />
<center>
Now cut a hole in it.</center>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-nYLs-XUfqXM/V-FPMInKB-I/AAAAAAAAB3Y/8C51eIZwq7YoBhY0ZPThhIihmsfsKptUACLcB/s1600/Paper+towel+roll+candle+a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-nYLs-XUfqXM/V-FPMInKB-I/AAAAAAAAB3Y/8C51eIZwq7YoBhY0ZPThhIihmsfsKptUACLcB/s320/Paper+towel+roll+candle+a.jpg" width="254" /></a></div>
<br />
<center>
Now you will take the white piece of printer paper, it could be any kind of paper, I just grabbed a piece of printer paper because it is bright white. It works to create a bright glow from the tea light that goes into the paper towel roll.</center>
<br />
<center>
This is what it should look like. White inside</center>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-QbKfDXYRvY4/V-FRVbuLeXI/AAAAAAAAB3k/_0q4uAs9tuA8kuyXx8H4JzrX3va9xLdkwCLcB/s1600/Paper+towel+roll+a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-QbKfDXYRvY4/V-FRVbuLeXI/AAAAAAAAB3k/_0q4uAs9tuA8kuyXx8H4JzrX3va9xLdkwCLcB/s320/Paper+towel+roll+a.jpg" width="217" /></a></div>
<br />
<center>
Next take your tape, you can use any tape, I normally use masking tape but I grabbed this black electric tape, simply, because I saw it first. Take the tape and create a seat for the tea light by placing the tape against the bottom of the candle with the sticky side down away from the candle. Insert the sticky side along with the tea light and push it down into the paper roll. The candle shape will press the tape to the sides. It takes about 5 or 6 pieces of tape to complete the seat.</center>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-USIAJMWDSUk/V-FrtRywBDI/AAAAAAAAB30/DVR1FoVhc0Apa55407GfnE3FSIMGVUDMQCLcB/s1600/Tea+lite+paper+towel+roll+candle.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-USIAJMWDSUk/V-FrtRywBDI/AAAAAAAAB30/DVR1FoVhc0Apa55407GfnE3FSIMGVUDMQCLcB/s320/Tea+lite+paper+towel+roll+candle.jpg" width="200" /></a></div>
<br />
<center>
This is what it should look like now.</center>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-C_215wXABrI/V-F4FgXJ7cI/AAAAAAAAB4E/LnC75rvjA7MSbo0QP4OzoNbW9jvZUplIACLcB/s1600/Paper+towel+roll+halloween+candle.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-C_215wXABrI/V-F4FgXJ7cI/AAAAAAAAB4E/LnC75rvjA7MSbo0QP4OzoNbW9jvZUplIACLcB/s320/Paper+towel+roll+halloween+candle.jpg" width="224" /></a></div>
<br />
<center>
Once that is done, you can paint the tube black.</center>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-zy2M7aBe4yA/V-F78LSMsvI/AAAAAAAAB4Q/hTY84rs9zqQOI_DAcIoJXn8FssW6N4A-ACLcB/s1600/Halloween+paper+towel+roll+a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-zy2M7aBe4yA/V-F78LSMsvI/AAAAAAAAB4Q/hTY84rs9zqQOI_DAcIoJXn8FssW6N4A-ACLcB/s320/Halloween+paper+towel+roll+a.jpg" width="287" /></a></div>
<br />
<center>
Once that is dry, take a sheet of wax paper and place the paper towel roll on the sheet. You now need to stabilize your paper towel roll so that it can support the weight of the Gargoyle and to keep it from tipping over. To do this you need to puddle the hot glue around the bottom of the paper towel roll, like this.</center>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-RLHCcaiZZsQ/V-F9YazlPhI/AAAAAAAAB4Y/rpk51GxF1Ck3nR8gQzkx_6nYe-2LeQqOQCLcB/s1600/Gargoyle+paper+towel+roll+Candle+c.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="310" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-RLHCcaiZZsQ/V-F9YazlPhI/AAAAAAAAB4Y/rpk51GxF1Ck3nR8gQzkx_6nYe-2LeQqOQCLcB/s320/Gargoyle+paper+towel+roll+Candle+c.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<center>
Let that cool completely, that way the glue stays flat so that the candle stands straight. Once that part is complete you can poke a hole into the bottom of the paper towel roll where the wax paper is. This will be helpful when you are gluing the Gargoyle on.</center>
<br />
<center>
Time to glue on the Gargoyle! Please make sure you use every precaution with the glue gun. Have your water next to you this part can get tricky. Take the Gargoyle and hold it up to the hole you cut into the paper towel roll makeing sure the eyes line up so that you will know where to apply your glue. Please be very careful with this part, the plastic gargoyle can heat up and get quite hot. Also take precaution due to how hot your glue gun is that the gargoyle could actually melt. Mine got hot but no where near melting. To aid me while pressing the Gargoyle to the paper towel roll, I enlisted the help of a paint stick and used it by inserting it thought the bottom of the paper towel roll to hold the inside of the paper towel roll while I pressed the gargoyle to the roll. That's the reason I poked a hole into the wax paper. Hold the Gargoyle and paper towel roll until it cools completely. This is important. Once it cools check to make sure it is securely glued if it is loose add more glue and hold it again until it is completely cool. Since the gargoyle is flat it may not be flush with the paper towel roll so turn it over and check. Use the tape and seal the spaces around the back of the eyes making sure there isn't any light that can get through. This will prevent that light from diluting the glow from the tea light inside. It should look like this. </center>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-LGgns_6WxNQ/V-GBP344ygI/AAAAAAAAB4g/acqY6y_CjFQs4907H-Xm7LTrCVYuk8tqACLcB/s1600/Halloween+paper+towel+roll+candle+b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-LGgns_6WxNQ/V-GBP344ygI/AAAAAAAAB4g/acqY6y_CjFQs4907H-Xm7LTrCVYuk8tqACLcB/s320/Halloween+paper+towel+roll+candle+b.jpg" width="222" /></a></div>
<br />
<center>
Once you have it taped you can put glue around the tape to make sure it stays, this will also help to secure and stabilize the Gargoyle as well. My electrical tape wasn't sticking very well so gluing over and around it really helped. If you are using masking tape, not to worry if the color of the tape is showing because you will be painting the paper towel roll again once you are done making the wax drips with the glue so the color of the tape will get covered up and not show.</center>
<br />
<center>
This is what it should look like now</center>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-c8qouIU8vGc/V-GC91zCy2I/AAAAAAAAB4o/S1uQxr2BdskGFHFX62o-vDMoTejVde4QwCLcB/s1600/Gargoyle+How+to.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-c8qouIU8vGc/V-GC91zCy2I/AAAAAAAAB4o/S1uQxr2BdskGFHFX62o-vDMoTejVde4QwCLcB/s320/Gargoyle+How+to.jpg" width="191" /></a></div>
<br />
<center>
Once done with that part you should be able to stand your candle up, it should be strong and sturdy, not easy to tip and the Gargoyle sure not be loose at all. You can now stick a tea light into the bottom to see what it will look like when lit. Like I did in the above picture. </center>
<br />
<center>
Now you can start to design the faux wax drips onto the paper towel roll parts that still show. You can do a lot or just a few around the top, it is all up to you. I did a lot and I used several glue sticks to do so. </center>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-2zGffp_9exQ/V-GFJXYbs_I/AAAAAAAAB40/xHc4uqEAByUr3bFrG983SvK2MKy5VbZJgCLcB/s1600/Gargoyle+paper+towel+roll+candles+c.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-2zGffp_9exQ/V-GFJXYbs_I/AAAAAAAAB40/xHc4uqEAByUr3bFrG983SvK2MKy5VbZJgCLcB/s320/Gargoyle+paper+towel+roll+candles+c.jpg" width="201" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ArCG1PjzD_M/V-GFr-mcvCI/AAAAAAAAB44/uCEAJifHQdMPTwzN-knfoP6YZfqhcanxwCLcB/s1600/Wax+drips+paper+towel+roll+candle.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ArCG1PjzD_M/V-GFr-mcvCI/AAAAAAAAB44/uCEAJifHQdMPTwzN-knfoP6YZfqhcanxwCLcB/s320/Wax+drips+paper+towel+roll+candle.jpg" width="214" /></a></div>
<br />
<center>
Run some glue around the top of the candle being careful not to let any get inside the seat where the candle goes, if it does the candle won't fit. Once that is done you just need to repaint the paper towel roll making sure you get all the hot glue drips and tape behind the gargoyle. You can paint the candle and or the gargoyle to your liking what ever colors you choose. </center>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-sw3zGChZUM0/V-GO6FqMjqI/AAAAAAAAB5E/HPe-cVUZRaEvKd4XIVJAKzBe2rGHhQvPgCLcB/s1600/Paper+towel+roll+candle+e.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-sw3zGChZUM0/V-GO6FqMjqI/AAAAAAAAB5E/HPe-cVUZRaEvKd4XIVJAKzBe2rGHhQvPgCLcB/s320/Paper+towel+roll+candle+e.jpg" width="224" /></a></div>
<br />
<center>
Don't forget to paint the bottom, it gives it a finished look and feel.</center>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-9MBSkKrt520/V-G0p285jfI/AAAAAAAAB5Y/-jvy2WwMUhUr31xDVb4raqoZzTz6acruwCLcB/s1600/Paper+towel+roll+Halloween.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-9MBSkKrt520/V-G0p285jfI/AAAAAAAAB5Y/-jvy2WwMUhUr31xDVb4raqoZzTz6acruwCLcB/s320/Paper+towel+roll+Halloween.jpg" width="231" /></a></div>
<br />
<center>
I haven't painted my Gargoyles yet as I really liked the look the sanding gave them, however, that's not to say that I won't. For now I am still playing with them.
</center>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-3mLyteEDDzg/V-HGQXbgz_I/AAAAAAAAB5o/iaQcYdgYeHAh0We98H6Q7xXham9S6M2lACLcB/s1600/Halloween+Paper+Towel+Roll+Candles+2a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-3mLyteEDDzg/V-HGQXbgz_I/AAAAAAAAB5o/iaQcYdgYeHAh0We98H6Q7xXham9S6M2lACLcB/s320/Halloween+Paper+Towel+Roll+Candles+2a.jpg" width="237" /></a></div>
<br />

<br /></div>
<br>Fun, fast and easy is how I like it! This project is certainly that! I created these Fall/Halloween faux candles in about an hour and so can you!<br/>
<br><br/>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-esTV6ZFt2_o/U_KbP_VT4DI/AAAAAAAABuI/wpClYmpZI5o/s1600/Fall+Papertowel+Roll+Candles.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-esTV6ZFt2_o/U_KbP_VT4DI/AAAAAAAABuI/wpClYmpZI5o/s400/Fall+Papertowel+Roll+Candles.jpg" /></a></div>
<br>To make these you will need:<br/>
<br>Cardboard Paper Towel Rolls (however many you decide you want to make)<br/>
<br>Glue stick<br/>
<br>Printed napkins, gift wrap, scrap-booking paper<br/>
<br>Tape<br/>
<br> Mog Podge<br/>
<br>Crayons (that match your paper)<br/>
<br>Scissors<br/>
<br>Plastic tea lites<br/>
<br>Waxpaper or Newspaper *something to protect your work surface*<br/>
<br>Heat Gun *to melt the crayons*<br/>
<br>Bottle *to hold the paper towel roll while you melt the crayons*<br/>
<br><br/>
<br> So lets get started!<be/>
<br>These are the two napkins I chose, I really liked the Fall colors.<br/>
<br><br/>
<br>Owl<br/>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-hxAAAB4oO_4/U_KgermUlKI/AAAAAAAABuU/waS7KLGQ9zA/s1600/Fall+Table+Scape+How+to+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-hxAAAB4oO_4/U_KgermUlKI/AAAAAAAABuU/waS7KLGQ9zA/s400/Fall+Table+Scape+How+to+2.jpg" /></a></div>
<br>Pumpkins<br/>
<br><br/>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-e7gtpqI2jRk/U_Kgx5zcsjI/AAAAAAAABuc/r26pXobDsG0/s1600/Fall+Table+Scape+How+to+3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-e7gtpqI2jRk/U_Kgx5zcsjI/AAAAAAAABuc/r26pXobDsG0/s400/Fall+Table+Scape+How+to+3.jpg" /></a></div>
<br><br/>
<br>Here is what your Napkins will look like unfolded. The creases do not matter because once you roll and glue the creases will disappear.<br/>
<br><br/>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-C_8TV4x-VP4/U_Ki9ieFGWI/AAAAAAAABuk/U5SHXszBRGs/s1600/Fall+Table+Scape+How+to+5.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-C_8TV4x-VP4/U_Ki9ieFGWI/AAAAAAAABuk/U5SHXszBRGs/s400/Fall+Table+Scape+How+to+5.jpg" /></a></div>
<br><br/>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-BKGk8vGcuOY/U_KjIDGGJDI/AAAAAAAABus/TA6tYB6U3SU/s1600/Fall+Table+Scape+How+to+4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-BKGk8vGcuOY/U_KjIDGGJDI/AAAAAAAABus/TA6tYB6U3SU/s400/Fall+Table+Scape+How+to+4.jpg" /></a></div>
<br> Take your paper towel roll and napkin and decide how you want to position your design on the roll and how tall or short you want your candle, then cut the roll. When cutting your napkin make your cut an inch taller than the roll, you will tuck the extra in at the top of the roll. Use the cut side of the roll for the top, that way the bottom is still level. <br/>
<br><br/>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-B4b16HpPB3M/U_K0ifCSpcI/AAAAAAAABu8/NYqiD7ffObM/s1600/Fall+Table+Scape+How+to+6.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-B4b16HpPB3M/U_K0ifCSpcI/AAAAAAAABu8/NYqiD7ffObM/s400/Fall+Table+Scape+How+to+6.jpg" /></a></div>
<br> Once you have decided on the positioning allowing for the extra inch at the top, take your glue stick and run it along the first edge of the napkin being careful not to tear it. Only apply the glue to the edge of the napkin or your napkin will wrinkle and you will not be able to smooth the paper down against the cardboard as it is thin and will tear.<br/>
<br> Now that you have the first edge glued, you can smooth the napkin making it tight and apply glue to the other edge. Now that both sides are glued you can tuck in the top. <br/>
<br><br/>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-UDBRkeD98Sg/U_K0rkgFdGI/AAAAAAAABvE/M1R_ZenzPT0/s1600/Fall+Table+Scape+How+to+7.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-UDBRkeD98Sg/U_K0rkgFdGI/AAAAAAAABvE/M1R_ZenzPT0/s400/Fall+Table+Scape+How+to+7.jpg" /></a></div>
<br><br/>
<br>Now to create the seat for the tea lite. Start by tearing off a piece of tape and sticky side down position it an inch or so inverted into the top of the roll. You can use your tea lite to help push the tape into position. Now repeat one piece at a time until the top is covered. It should look like this, although, I put this one too far into the roll so the lite sits too far down into it. You might want to make yours level with the top. <br/>
<br><br/>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-K0FvlQVKkcI/U_K27jmSvPI/AAAAAAAABvM/NfJGcLCt9YM/s1600/Fall+Table+Scape+How+to+8.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-K0FvlQVKkcI/U_K27jmSvPI/AAAAAAAABvM/NfJGcLCt9YM/s400/Fall+Table+Scape+How+to+8.jpg" /></a></div>
<br><br/>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-XVLEVqLNFqc/U_K3Lt3XemI/AAAAAAAABvU/_4DgQZOe1Oc/s1600/Fall+Table+Scape+How+To+9.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-XVLEVqLNFqc/U_K3Lt3XemI/AAAAAAAABvU/_4DgQZOe1Oc/s400/Fall+Table+Scape+How+To+9.jpg" /></a></div>
<br> Take the Mod Podge apply a thin coat again being careful not to tear the paper. Once that is dry if you feel it needs another coat you can appy it now.<br/>
<br> Time for the crayons!<br/>
<br><br/>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-VfFyc3DopJc/U_K4v148BMI/AAAAAAAABvc/6ID-W66Jbc4/s1600/Fall+Table+Scape+How+to+11.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-VfFyc3DopJc/U_K4v148BMI/AAAAAAAABvc/6ID-W66Jbc4/s400/Fall+Table+Scape+How+to+11.jpg" /></a></div>
<br>You should put something down to protect your work surface. I put wax paper down. I also put my candle on top of an old bottle to hold it in place while I melted the crayons. The crayons melt very fast and the wax is thin like water so it can blow and splatter if there is air generated by the heat gun. So use caution.<br/>
<br><br/>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-HzjKaUR_FnI/U_LQp-dpDJI/AAAAAAAABv8/0cJnCKbPaYI/s1600/Paper+towel+roll+candle+and+crayons2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-HzjKaUR_FnI/U_LQp-dpDJI/AAAAAAAABv8/0cJnCKbPaYI/s400/Paper+towel+roll+candle+and+crayons2.jpg" /></a></div>
<br> Remove the paper from the crayons. Carefully hold the crayon over the top rim of the paper towel roll apply the heat and let the wax drip down the roll! Fun! You can use as many colors as you want so get creative! <br/>
<br><br/>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-bmMkj8Wm7EM/U_LOM_cqxaI/AAAAAAAABvs/KXZX54fEXJM/s1600/Fall+Table+Scape+How+To+12.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-bmMkj8Wm7EM/U_LOM_cqxaI/AAAAAAAABvs/KXZX54fEXJM/s400/Fall+Table+Scape+How+To+12.jpg" /></a></div>
<br><br/>
<br> That's it now your done and you can admire your beautiful candles! They are perfect for anything. Table scape, mantel. imagine them tucked into a Fall or Halloween center piece.<br/>

Last year I shared a simple candle craft project that I created using glitter skulls I had picked up from Michaels Art and Craft store and thought I would do the same with these cute little glitter skulls I also found at Michaels. If you want to check out last years post here is a link to it. <a href="http://houseofdewberry.blogspot.com/2012/08/diy-halloween-craft-candles.html">Skull Candle How-to</a> </center>
<br />
<br />
<center>
This candle is made almost the same way except you do not have to cut the skull in half. This skull is smaller and it is made from plastic, not Styrofoam.</center>
<br />
<br />
<center>
To get started here is a list of supplies you will need.</center>
<br />
<br />
<center>
Glue gun and glue sticks. (I used 4 sticks for this project, you may use less or more, it is up to you)</center>
<br />
<br />
<center>
Xacto knife</center>
<br />
<br />
<center>
Masking tape</center>
<br />
<br />
<center>
2 Paper towel rolls</center>
<br />
<center>
Glitter skulls (purchased at Michaels)</center>
<br />
<center>
Black and silver metallic craft paint which I forgot to include in the picture. You can purchase the craft paint at Michaels.</center>
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-_l_OLpJddDs/Uh7VL4iPU6I/AAAAAAAABog/L0PPLlb7Yfk/s1600/Paper+towel+roll+candle+3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-_l_OLpJddDs/Uh7VL4iPU6I/AAAAAAAABog/L0PPLlb7Yfk/s400/Paper+towel+roll+candle+3.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
<center>
Before we get started I want to stress the importance of taking precautions when working with hot glue for those who are inexperienced. It would be good to have a bowl filled with ice and water on the table close to you. In the event that you get hot glue on you, you can quickly submerge or pour on the water it will cool the glue disabling it. It is instinct once one realizes they are burning to try and quickly brush the burning glue off. That only ends with another burn. So please take the extra precaution and save yourself from a nasty burn. If at any point after you start to apply the hot glue to the roll and it gets bumped and starts to tip over (((DO NOT GRAB IT))). It's covered in hot glue and it's HOT! Let it fall, the glue will clean up and it will not hurt the candle drips. You can just glue over any places you don't like. If you are creating with children it is very important that they know this and what to do if glue gets on them.</center>
<br />
<center>
Ok, let's get started! Take the paper roll, choose where you want the skull positioned on it, then make a hole using your scissors or xacto knife, a small circle the size of the back of the skulls head.
Next, secure it into the hole. It really doesn't matter if the hole is perfect, you will be applying glue around the head which will fill in any gaps.</center>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-BsDJi03yMD8/Uh7XM00JUNI/AAAAAAAABos/7ZS2854Luq0/s1600/Paper+towel+roll+candle+4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-BsDJi03yMD8/Uh7XM00JUNI/AAAAAAAABos/7ZS2854Luq0/s400/Paper+towel+roll+candle+4.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-THkLJj94ias/Uh7cQMQBKOI/AAAAAAAABo8/VNCBD_vL99A/s1600/Paper+towel+roll+candle+5.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-THkLJj94ias/Uh7cQMQBKOI/AAAAAAAABo8/VNCBD_vL99A/s400/Paper+towel+roll+candle+5.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-QCRd_xvATAg/UiLQKTERUmI/AAAAAAAABsI/bV0JjY2AaMc/s1600/Skull+head+candle+prop+1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-QCRd_xvATAg/UiLQKTERUmI/AAAAAAAABsI/bV0JjY2AaMc/s400/Skull+head+candle+prop+1.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
<center>
Now that the skull is where you want it, you can put a little glue around the face area to secure it.</center>
<br />
<center>
Time to take the smaller roll and cut it in half to make the Jester hat.</center>
<br />
<br />
<center>
To do that I flattened the cardboard tube and cut some v's into it, I don't measure the cut's out or anything creative like that, I just cut it.</center>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-283XkilL17I/Uh7c7SCBH4I/AAAAAAAABpE/_IQ0ApLZFmE/s1600/Paper+towel+roll+candle+6.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-283XkilL17I/Uh7c7SCBH4I/AAAAAAAABpE/_IQ0ApLZFmE/s400/Paper+towel+roll+candle+6.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
<center>
When you are finished cutting the V's, cut that piece in half as well.</center>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-t8gfdhAMiXM/Uh7dwqNAbsI/AAAAAAAABpQ/kustZauJfm0/s1600/Paper+towel+roll+candle+7.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-t8gfdhAMiXM/Uh7dwqNAbsI/AAAAAAAABpQ/kustZauJfm0/s400/Paper+towel+roll+candle+7.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
<center>
Paint the little hat black then let it dry. You can speed things up with a blow dryer. When dry, take a pencil and curl the tips.</center>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-eBPFI59XsvM/Uh7k3Eb-krI/AAAAAAAABpg/5rxLcETN1gk/s1600/Paper+towel+roll+candle+8.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-eBPFI59XsvM/Uh7k3Eb-krI/AAAAAAAABpg/5rxLcETN1gk/s400/Paper+towel+roll+candle+8.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
<center>
Glue the hat onto the skull and candle by placing a drop of hot glue on both sides and pressing each side of the hat onto the candle. Be careful not to burn yourself with the glue.</center>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-l7Cc8zIFGtk/Uh7lcvFTFwI/AAAAAAAABpo/gHHkVGV2OR8/s1600/Paper+towel+roll+candle+10.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-l7Cc8zIFGtk/Uh7lcvFTFwI/AAAAAAAABpo/gHHkVGV2OR8/s400/Paper+towel+roll+candle+10.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-UXshGdbyPgg/Uh7lloT6cCI/AAAAAAAABpw/5Npq6widsMo/s1600/Paper+towel+roll+candle+9.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-UXshGdbyPgg/Uh7lloT6cCI/AAAAAAAABpw/5Npq6widsMo/s400/Paper+towel+roll+candle+9.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
<center>
To create the top of the candle, you will need to tear off several pieces of tape, approximately 3" you will need 5 or so. Take the tape sticky side down and place the tea light on it then tuck it into the hole the sticky side of the tape will stick to the sides of the roll. Continue this until the hole is covered. The tea light should now fit easily down into it and not fall down into the tube.</center>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Xnzj4hY-PoQ/UiKnGAxushI/AAAAAAAABrk/tcVdt0WqFBY/s1600/Halloween+candle+craft+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Xnzj4hY-PoQ/UiKnGAxushI/AAAAAAAABrk/tcVdt0WqFBY/s400/Halloween+candle+craft+2.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
<center>
When done placing all the tape pieces, it should look like this. Fold over the extra tape if there is any.</center>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-2r_EOEwUpnM/UiKoBq8lGBI/AAAAAAAABrs/HrIxldYuhOU/s1600/Halloween+candle+craft+1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-2r_EOEwUpnM/UiKoBq8lGBI/AAAAAAAABrs/HrIxldYuhOU/s400/Halloween+candle+craft+1.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
<center>
Paint the paper roll black and let dry.</center>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-WO6fDlZjbNo/Uh7mvDOCWWI/AAAAAAAABp8/fsGcNY6Yv58/s1600/Paper+towel+roll+candle+11.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-WO6fDlZjbNo/Uh7mvDOCWWI/AAAAAAAABp8/fsGcNY6Yv58/s400/Paper+towel+roll+candle+11.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-DNMi3ph9cJQ/Uh7m3M5dd2I/AAAAAAAABqE/fzNgAl5kwV8/s1600/Paper+towel+roll+candle+12.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-DNMi3ph9cJQ/Uh7m3M5dd2I/AAAAAAAABqE/fzNgAl5kwV8/s400/Paper+towel+roll+candle+12.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
<center>
When dry place the candle onto a paper towel standing upright, this will not only protect your surface from the hot glue drips, it will hold the puddles you will make to support your candle and allow it to free stand. Time to start dripping! But first make some glue puddles around the bottom of the candle, this will keep it from tipping over and should look like this. </center>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-_D6-zYyumnk/Uh7snHwNuMI/AAAAAAAABqk/FzndDqU0FGI/s1600/Paper+towel+roll+candle+15.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-_D6-zYyumnk/Uh7snHwNuMI/AAAAAAAABqk/FzndDqU0FGI/s400/Paper+towel+roll+candle+15.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
<center>
Cover most of the candle in drips making sure to cover up and around the skull to fill any gaps and to give it a seamless appearance. It should look like this. </center>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-k1H4Ro8CiqU/Uh7q8WqmmeI/AAAAAAAABqQ/KJ9cAv0ImuQ/s1600/Paper+towel+roll+candle+17.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-k1H4Ro8CiqU/Uh7q8WqmmeI/AAAAAAAABqQ/KJ9cAv0ImuQ/s400/Paper+towel+roll+candle+17.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
<center>
When you are happy with your candle wax effect, it is time to paint the drips black and let it dry.</center>
<br />
<br />
<center>
It should look like this now.</center>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-C6GBIsntvf0/UiKsGaiR_1I/AAAAAAAABr4/2pNskHENlGI/s1600/Halloween+family+craft+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-C6GBIsntvf0/UiKsGaiR_1I/AAAAAAAABr4/2pNskHENlGI/s400/Halloween+family+craft+2.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
<center>
Now for the dry brushing. Take some of the silver metallic paint squeeze a little on a paper towel, then dip your brush. Then take your brush and brush it back and forth on the paper towel to take some of the excess off, then lightly brush the raised glue drips back and forth until you get the effect you want, tear off the paper towel and you're done!</center>
<br />
<br />
<center>
This is what it should look like all finished! You can paint the tea light to match.</center>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-2dF-mEgS3fI/UiLmyfKTSyI/AAAAAAAABsY/m1_NdifpPqM/s1600/Halloween+candle+craft+3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-2dF-mEgS3fI/UiLmyfKTSyI/AAAAAAAABsY/m1_NdifpPqM/s400/Halloween+candle+craft+3.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br /></div>
<br> As the scare season is creeping closer and only 100 days left until Halloween! I wanted to share something I pieced together from a surprise find I found while out for a walk with friends. <br/>
<br> Passing a local parking lot, I noticed a small pile of discarded trash, unusual for this lot as it is normally kept very clean form debris, trash, etc, probably why it caught my eye something was out of place. At first glance it was just trash, some papers, plastic, nothing unusual, until I noticed the little black cardboard box shaped as a coffin! I could no longer ignore it! <br/>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-dypOOtjTy20/Ue3vDg2zw-I/AAAAAAAABlo/p9zQKloRBjU/s1600/skeleton+15.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-dypOOtjTy20/Ue3vDg2zw-I/AAAAAAAABlo/p9zQKloRBjU/s320/skeleton+15.jpg" /></a></div>
<br> Not wanting to disappoint my friends who had now stopped to see what in the world I was suddenly so excited about, while they stood giving me the eye rolls and the oh no, here she goes again, look. With all that what else could I do but take it home and make it into a Halloween prop! ha ha ha, therefore, and without any further ado, Ta da! <br/>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-VyF3bgcCc-I/Ue32Xr1Y3NI/AAAAAAAABmE/yLV3Gb0zQX0/s1600/Skeleton+coffin+6aa.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-VyF3bgcCc-I/Ue32Xr1Y3NI/AAAAAAAABmE/yLV3Gb0zQX0/s320/Skeleton+coffin+6aa.jpg" /></a></div>
<br> The possibilities for this coffin box are endless, however, I just wanted to make something simple and quick. I really didn't want it to hit the to do pile. I wanted it finished and ready to display. What I saw for it was something like the Skeleton that I created on one of my faux candles. <br/>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Tst68Cd8AB8/Ue4ROKL9QyI/AAAAAAAABmU/94v0hzaMZoU/s1600/Skull+candle+1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Tst68Cd8AB8/Ue4ROKL9QyI/AAAAAAAABmU/94v0hzaMZoU/s320/Skull+candle+1.jpg" /></a></div>
<br> I grabbed some wire and tape twisted it together,coated it in hot glue then popped a small plastic skull head on it and done! <br/>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-jb2XdjPbnQI/Ue4Szbh2-rI/AAAAAAAABms/PZs4ilS4xxo/s1600/skeleton+coffin+17a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-jb2XdjPbnQI/Ue4Szbh2-rI/AAAAAAAABms/PZs4ilS4xxo/s320/skeleton+coffin+17a.jpg" /></a></div>
<br> At first I wasn't sure I could recreate the skeleton because the first one I made was attached to the candle so it had a support. This one would be semi free standing. Once I got started I knew it would work and perfectly it did! It's completely posable. Moving forward I will definitely be creating more of these.<br/>

Happy New Year, Valentines Day, MLK day, Presidents day, and anything else that may have passed and I may have left out. I hope everyone has had a lovely start to this New Year 2013. </br> It's now 247 days left until Halloween, at least it is here where I am. Right now 247 days may seem like a lot and a little early to be thinking about Halloween , however, any true Halloween enthusiast will tell you each day passing is one less day to get your build on. Halloween is a terrific Holiday to get some family bonding in, so gather the family, pick a project and set some time aside to meet and work together through out the year towards your perfectly chilling Halloween you will be happy you did. It is easy to get started, all you have to do is pick a theme for your next years yard display, Haunted house or Halloween party. Then once the plan is made gather what you need. There are so many great terrorific Halloween resource, How-to's, tutorials ,free printables here on the web. <a href="http://www.garageofevilnetwork.com/">@Garage of Evil</a> is one of them. The garage is a central hub for all things Halloween and it's up all year long, 24 days a week. If you are looking for inspiration, help with a project, anything Halloween related this is the perfect place to start. </br>
<br>
<br>
<br>
<br><center>So there it is the big inspirational speech for Halloween 2013! I hope you will check in through out the year to see whats new, to get inspired and or be moved enough to create something really chilling.</br></center> <br><center> I thought I would share a couple of my faux candle creations that I have been working on, there are more in the works , however, I will save those for later time. The first one is a Skeleton rising up from the melted wax. It started out as a crawling candle like this one below; just taller. </br></center>
<br>
<br><center><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-9vxuM4THwqk/USFlK6uvL6I/AAAAAAAABjs/IxvMKIJZimo/s1600/Creepy+crawler+candle+8.jpg" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-9vxuM4THwqk/USFlK6uvL6I/AAAAAAAABjs/IxvMKIJZimo/s320/Creepy+crawler+candle+8.jpg" /></a></br></center>
<br><center>But then, one of the legs started to resemble an arm reaching out and I started rolling tape and building the rib cage. Then found these skull heads and well there you have it a full bodied skeleton, wax dripping tentacles, holding smaller skulls. It just happens sometimes, if a candle project sits unfinished in my view for any length of time the more chances of it turning into something other than what it started out as is a probability. </br></center>

<br><center>I created him the same way I did all the other candles using only paper, glue, tape, paint and my imagination. For those who are new to the House here are the <a href="http://houseofdewberry.blogspot.com/2010/08/diy-halloween-project-black-candles.html">directions</a> to my original faux candles that are made from items you probable have on hand. Not sure if I could do a how-to on this one, he wasn't really planned out and I didn't document the process. Not to worry there will be plenty of how-to's through out the year.</br></center>
<br></br>
<br></br>
<br><center>This one is a work in progress. It's a creepy tree with a wicked face which will light up, wax branches and wax arms holding candles spilling melted wax. Not sure how he will look upon his finish, there is always the possibility that he will change as well, one can never be sure. </br></center>

Who will be the brave sole to take home the pair, will it be you?
<br>The Evil Twins are the results of my paper towel roll tealight candle art experiment. A few years back I ran across a how-to on how to make pvc ficker light prop candles and really wanted to make some. I had neither of those two things on hand. What I did have sitting right in front of me was a paper towel roll! Little did I know what would come from that paper towel roll or if it would even turn out as good looking as the PVC candles. Well needless to say they have become a main staple of my creepy creations. Candles are to me a must have when creating a spooky ambiance and in the spirit of DIY and Re-purposing everyday throw aways, they're all about that. The plus side to these candles are that they are all of those plus safe and easy to use.</br>
<br> Why I chose the twins for this giveaway is that they were the first of my original designs to become popular, therefore, I thought they would be the perfect choice for the giveaway.</br>
<br>Since creating the twins, my candle creations have evolved into more elaborate creations,
<br>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-eHXYWzMgUCM/UIBEPd8PHxI/AAAAAAAABho/vTXbUJ6EDzw/s1600/Jester+dddd.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="320" width="240" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-eHXYWzMgUCM/UIBEPd8PHxI/AAAAAAAABho/vTXbUJ6EDzw/s320/Jester+dddd.jpg" /></a></div>
<br>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-p2S9LpQnQvU/UIBDWbBVPtI/AAAAAAAABhc/U0b_DXoYyfc/s1600/little+ceepy+legs+11.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="311" width="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-p2S9LpQnQvU/UIBDWbBVPtI/AAAAAAAABhc/U0b_DXoYyfc/s320/little+ceepy+legs+11.jpg" /></a></div>
<br>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-kODajiIC4t4/UIBFK8N9cYI/AAAAAAAABh0/BMfZI9b_C-M/s1600/Paper+towel+roll+Halloween+candle+6.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="320" width="319" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-kODajiIC4t4/UIBFK8N9cYI/AAAAAAAABh0/BMfZI9b_C-M/s320/Paper+towel+roll+Halloween+candle+6.jpg" /></a></div>
<br>
however, I have kept the twins simple and as close to the original design as possible, due to the fact that they are not made from a mold and that I create each one by hand. It is sometime hard to duplicate them exactly.</br>
<br>
As a thank you to all who have subscribed/followed, enjoyed and shared my art with others and as a welcome to new future followers, I want to say thank you with this fun give away! Another dollar store Halloween plate make over. Sometimes I just like to take a break from my more involved creations and do something fun, fast and easy and I just love these plates! I've been having a lot of fun with them. <br><center>Supplies I used, minus the tea light</center></br>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-p_7K8oPhlWM/UH5jRuN9MgI/AAAAAAAABfw/51wu8x9M1G8/s1600/Witch+Shoe+How+to+1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="170" width="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-p_7K8oPhlWM/UH5jRuN9MgI/AAAAAAAABfw/51wu8x9M1G8/s320/Witch+Shoe+How+to+1.jpg" /></a></div>
<br/> The legs are made from paper towel rolls, black glitter gift wrapping paper and purple glitter ribbon. I found the witches shoes at Michaels Craft Store. They were originally meant to hold a little tealight, however, in my imagination I saw something completely different.</br>
<br> The shoes weren't in the best condition when I found them. I had to fix them up a little by re-glittering the polka dots and repainting where the paint had chipped off but Michaels had them marked down appropriately which was very nice and they fixed up easily enough.</br>
<br>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-X67tUhqGHD8/UH5NYIlVZsI/AAAAAAAABeY/vFS2hpwC5uA/s1600/Witch+Shoe+How+To+3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="240" width="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-X67tUhqGHD8/UH5NYIlVZsI/AAAAAAAABeY/vFS2hpwC5uA/s320/Witch+Shoe+How+To+3.jpg" /></a></div>
<br>I wrapped the paper towel roll with the black glitter paper and glued it with a glue stick.</br>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-rpElY5eRqSQ/UH5D-nEGstI/AAAAAAAABdI/--MiT50i0Ug/s1600/Witches+Shoe+How+to+6.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="320" width="190" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-rpElY5eRqSQ/UH5D-nEGstI/AAAAAAAABdI/--MiT50i0Ug/s320/Witches+Shoe+How+to+6.jpg" /></a></div>
<br>I then applied the glitter ribbon securing each wrap with a little dot of hot glue. The ribbon has 1" spaces between them.</br>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-O_c5CciputY/UH5LGmesI2I/AAAAAAAABdo/YuAIGZQ-WiY/s1600/Witch+Shoe+How+to+4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="320" width="223" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-O_c5CciputY/UH5LGmesI2I/AAAAAAAABdo/YuAIGZQ-WiY/s320/Witch+Shoe+How+to+4.jpg" /></a></div>
<br> Now I glued the paper towel roll into the shoes where the tealights were suppose to go.</br>
<br><center>It's a perfect fit!</center></Br>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-eED7x0EZE3k/UH5Lr-sKPHI/AAAAAAAABd0/YVfiYuVdugk/s1600/Witches+Shoe+How+to+7.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="320" width="271" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-eED7x0EZE3k/UH5Lr-sKPHI/AAAAAAAABd0/YVfiYuVdugk/s320/Witches+Shoe+How+to+7.jpg" /></a></div>
Last I glued the plate onto the top of the rolls and there it is! A very simple, very Halloweenie, in a Witchey way, cake stand or gruesome goodie server!
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-XdKxHEkjUHE/UH5Mh8PIlAI/AAAAAAAABeA/pKlxe4YK-9w/s1600/Witches+shoes+cake+stand+33.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="320" width="240" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-XdKxHEkjUHE/UH5Mh8PIlAI/AAAAAAAABeA/pKlxe4YK-9w/s320/Witches+shoes+cake+stand+33.jpg" /></a></div>
<br><center>Opps I almost forgot the purple spiders! I hot glued two little purple spiders onto the buckles! I found those also at Michaels in the floral department.</center></br>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-vGzSKxg-5as/UH5UFIJHdkI/AAAAAAAABe4/Nq4ijW5vkzY/s1600/Witches+shoes+cake+stand+55.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="320" width="240" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-vGzSKxg-5as/UH5UFIJHdkI/AAAAAAAABe4/Nq4ijW5vkzY/s320/Witches+shoes+cake+stand+55.jpg" /></a></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br> In my last post I showed how I made-over a plastic Halloween tray which can be view here -> <a href="http://houseofdewberry.blogspot.com/2012/09/one-simply-cannot-have-too-many-serving.html">Halloween Serving Tray Makeover </a> into a creepy crawler candle, serving tray. This post is an extension to that one.</br>
<br>This time I made it in a different color. The only real difference being is I used scrap booking paper on the paper towel roll candle and I didn't add any bead garland. </br>

<br /></div>
<br>Easy Dollar Store Plastic Plate Makeover for Halloween Goodies.</br>
<br>One simply cannot have too many serving trays at a Halloween feast to compliment the delightfully creepy fare one presents to their frightful visitors...</br>
<br> You wouldn't just throw bat wings or zombie brains on a floral vintage plate and call it a fright? Would you!</br>
<br>Anywho, I happened upon this transparent black plastic skull head serving tray and knew right away what it's potential was.</br>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-KWFif20YqXQ/UEVq9X0rIvI/AAAAAAAABUM/IcR4f0X-7cc/s1600/Desert+Stand+House+of+Dewberry+8.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="281" width="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-KWFif20YqXQ/UEVq9X0rIvI/AAAAAAAABUM/IcR4f0X-7cc/s320/Desert+Stand+House+of+Dewberry+8.jpg" /></a></div>
<br> So I took it home and painted it black</br>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-NmFqzqTBiVI/UEVrf_BRYFI/AAAAAAAABUY/7cdtH9htZfE/s1600/Dessert+Stand+House+of+Dewberry.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="268" width="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-NmFqzqTBiVI/UEVrf_BRYFI/AAAAAAAABUY/7cdtH9htZfE/s320/Dessert+Stand+House+of+Dewberry.jpg" /></a></div>
<br> It looked nice just black too</br>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-gwWgLuMoUq0/UEVrod3PF6I/AAAAAAAABUk/WjKAGAD6Gwc/s1600/Desert+Stand+House+of+Dewberry10.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="261" width="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-gwWgLuMoUq0/UEVrod3PF6I/AAAAAAAABUk/WjKAGAD6Gwc/s320/Desert+Stand+House+of+Dewberry10.jpg" /></a></div>
<br> But I took it further anyway and dry brushed it with green metallic craft paint which added a kind of polished metal worn factor to it. </br>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-zcGI7UvlP3o/UEV1n48nrqI/AAAAAAAABVA/xc3UxogXvJE/s1600/Desert+Stand+House+of+Dewberry+11.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="320" width="316" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-zcGI7UvlP3o/UEV1n48nrqI/AAAAAAAABVA/xc3UxogXvJE/s320/Desert+Stand+House+of+Dewberry+11.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-f0T2ihAFO0s/UEV11C_ts0I/AAAAAAAABVM/IUfMHd30F7A/s1600/Desert+Stand+House+of+Dewberry+12.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="300" width="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-f0T2ihAFO0s/UEV11C_ts0I/AAAAAAAABVM/IUfMHd30F7A/s320/Desert+Stand+House+of+Dewberry+12.jpg" /></a></div>
<br> I thought it looked pretty authentic and far more sinister than the original plastic transparent plate, which by the way there is nothing wrong with the plastic plate, I love that the dollar store offers items that one can purchase and use as is at such a great price! </br>
<br>So there you have it an easy peasy Halloween serving tray makeover that cost little and takes about 10 min's to transform, depending on how fast the black paint dries and in the end turns into something far different and terrifically terrifying. </br>
<br> And since I just can't seem to keep it simple, here is how mine actually turned out in the end. </br>

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-uMJZ_E5KrqE/UDrtXhNCOsI/AAAAAAAABOE/ImgMEGO6nRM/s1600/Skull+Candles+House+of+Dewberry.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="235" width="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-uMJZ_E5KrqE/UDrtXhNCOsI/AAAAAAAABOE/ImgMEGO6nRM/s320/Skull+Candles+House+of+Dewberry.jpg" /></a></div>
So I was checking out the Halloween decor at Michael's Arts and Craft store the other day and found these cute glitter skull pick's and thought the skulls would make a great focal point for these candles, they're the perfect size.
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-TN3_osAhF9Y/UDr0qa1Te_I/AAAAAAAABOc/u1GFWmxHxkA/s1600/Skull+Candles+House+of+Dewberry+l.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="236" width="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-TN3_osAhF9Y/UDr0qa1Te_I/AAAAAAAABOc/u1GFWmxHxkA/s320/Skull+Candles+House+of+Dewberry+l.jpg" /></a></div>
<Br> They come with a stick (pick) attached to them because they are used for floral arrangements, etc. I removed the pick as you can see in the above picture. I am only using the head.</Br>
<Br> What you will need to create your own:</Br>
<Br> Paper towel roll</Br>
<Br> Paper towel</Br>
<Br> Hot glue gun and glue sticks</Br>
<Br> Excato knife or a sharp knife</Br>
<Br> Glitter skulls 99 cents at Michaels</Br>
<Br> Scissors<Br/>
<Br> Masking Tape </Br>
<Br> Tea Light </Br>
<br>Black acrylic craft paint</br>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-rnpqJjCB4l4/UDr4EB5KkcI/AAAAAAAABO0/7Cx_oKSw0-Y/s1600/Skull+Candle+House+of+Dewberry+j.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="236" width="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-rnpqJjCB4l4/UDr4EB5KkcI/AAAAAAAABO0/7Cx_oKSw0-Y/s320/Skull+Candle+House+of+Dewberry+j.jpg" /></a></div>
<Br> Paper tea light candles are the best for Halloween as they are safe and durable. You don't have to worry about someone or something knocking them over and starting a fire. They can go anywhere, table, mantel, shelf, window, porch anywhere you like.</br>
<Br> My first step was to decide the height I wanted the candle and then cut it down to that size. I then slice the back of the head off of the skull.</Br>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-5k3BjSplchk/UDr5eqKwL3I/AAAAAAAABPA/9Vmx21_bYgw/s1600/Skull+Candle+House+of+Dewberry+n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="320" width="242" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-5k3BjSplchk/UDr5eqKwL3I/AAAAAAAABPA/9Vmx21_bYgw/s320/Skull+Candle+House+of+Dewberry+n.jpg" /></a></div>
<Br>For the top of the candle where the tea light will sit. I take the masking tape and "sticky side" down I place the tealight on it, then push the tealight and tape down into the top of the roll just far enough for the tea light to be level or if you like a little lower than the top of the roll. I do this three or four times folding the tape over and securing it to the outside of the roll until the top invert is covered. This will give support for the tealight. </Br>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-MMMvWt2vGNo/UDr7yP_pfeI/AAAAAAAABPM/GNLwk1t-IQo/s1600/Skull+Candle+House+of+Dewberry+q.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="320" width="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-MMMvWt2vGNo/UDr7yP_pfeI/AAAAAAAABPM/GNLwk1t-IQo/s320/Skull+Candle+House+of+Dewberry+q.jpg" /></a></div>
<Br> Now I position the skull to the center of the paper towel roll and cut a circle. The circle does not have to be perfect it just needs to be large enough to fit the back of the skulls head into it.</Br>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-oWw9LdWnW84/UDr8GBSzroI/AAAAAAAABPY/I2cB9ImaHPU/s1600/Skull+Candle+House+of+Dewberry+p.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="320" width="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-oWw9LdWnW84/UDr8GBSzroI/AAAAAAAABPY/I2cB9ImaHPU/s320/Skull+Candle+House+of+Dewberry+p.jpg" /></a></div>
<Br> Now I take the skull and fit it into the hole and drip a few drops of glue to secure it, again, if it doesn't fit perfectly it is ok, because the glue will seal the gaps.</Br>
</Br><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-E6CqjqDpOfQ/UDr9ETDgIFI/AAAAAAAABPk/eD8nLPOwzBg/s1600/Skull+Candle+House+of+Dewberry+e.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="276" width="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-E6CqjqDpOfQ/UDr9ETDgIFI/AAAAAAAABPk/eD8nLPOwzBg/s320/Skull+Candle+House+of+Dewberry+e.jpg" /></a></div>
<br> If there is a large gap you can tear a little piece from the scraps and glue it on.</Br>
<br><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-aXIJMzncaBM/UDr-o1oPAQI/AAAAAAAABPw/bkpu_wx8zYw/s1600/Skull+Candle+House+of+Dewberry+f.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="276" width="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-aXIJMzncaBM/UDr-o1oPAQI/AAAAAAAABPw/bkpu_wx8zYw/s320/Skull+Candle+House+of+Dewberry+f.jpg" /></a></div>
<Br> Now place the bottom of the paper towel roll onto the paper towel and start dripping glue around the middle letting it run down the roll and onto the paper, let it cool. This will help stabilize it and the candle will stand on it's own.</br>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-hnf8GB0Sp6k/UDsEgRH6w5I/AAAAAAAABQM/em0uaB67oVE/s1600/Skull+Candle+House+of+Dewberry+g.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="229" width="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-hnf8GB0Sp6k/UDsEgRH6w5I/AAAAAAAABQM/em0uaB67oVE/s320/Skull+Candle+House+of+Dewberry+g.jpg" /></a></div>
<br> Once the glue has cooled you can tear the paper off I normally leave it until I am done gluing but if you find the paper cumbersome you can remove it. If by chance your candle does knock over while you are dripping the glue do not try to catch it, you will get burned! The candle falling will not hurt it, you can just re-drip where it messed up during the fall. Remember to be careful because the glue is really hot! </Br>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-jkmUd83VNPQ/UDsFVBznt1I/AAAAAAAABQY/OMCskGum1Hw/s1600/Skull+candle+House+of+Dewberry+i.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="320" width="309" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-jkmUd83VNPQ/UDsFVBznt1I/AAAAAAAABQY/OMCskGum1Hw/s320/Skull+candle+House+of+Dewberry+i.jpg" /></a></div>
<Br> Now that the candle is balanced you can drip from the top. You can make as many drips as you like; a lot or a little it's up to you and how you want the candle to look. I covered most of the roll but it really doesn't matter it looks great with fewer drips as well. At this point if you have a duel temp gun you can turn it down and let it cool. If you don't have a duel temp you can simply turn the gun off and let it cool a little. This makes the drips run slower and cool quicker. Once cooled,
drip some drops around the face letting it run down the forehead and sides of the face filling the gaps. </Br>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-FR5qcbfjoJ0/UDsK67FumYI/AAAAAAAABRQ/bhY5bedohOE/s1600/Skull+Candles+House+of+Dewberry+d.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="276" width="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-FR5qcbfjoJ0/UDsK67FumYI/AAAAAAAABRQ/bhY5bedohOE/s320/Skull+Candles+House+of+Dewberry+d.jpg" /></a></div>
<br> With the glue still cooled rim the top of the candle adding more in some spots to make it look a little less level and more like a real candle looks after the wax warms up and melts some areas more than others. If you have turned off your glue gun and it has cooled too much you can turn it back on heat the glue a little and turn it back off again. Cooler glue works better for the top. </Br>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-CRw8wDI3nFc/UDsOMPsiO1I/AAAAAAAABRs/h6-RwF8CTy4/s1600/Skull+candles+House+of+Dewberry+b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="248" width="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-CRw8wDI3nFc/UDsOMPsiO1I/AAAAAAAABRs/h6-RwF8CTy4/s320/Skull+candles+House+of+Dewberry+b.jpg" /></a></div>
<br> Now comes the paint. I used black acrylic craft paint and just slathered it on making sure to get all the nooks and crannies. I carefully painted the drips around the face and the tea light to match. That's it all done.</br> <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-v8l1UNC_SiA/UDsQXZzmoqI/AAAAAAAABR4/Z3rqlmAtioo/s1600/Skull+Candles+House+of+Dewberry+m.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="320" width="212" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-v8l1UNC_SiA/UDsQXZzmoqI/AAAAAAAABR4/Z3rqlmAtioo/s320/Skull+Candles+House+of+Dewberry+m.jpg" /></a></div>
<br>Now you can make more!</br>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-XaM6WmxJfME/UDsQ3GumFCI/AAAAAAAABSE/U-aKXodZmqM/s1600/Skull+Candles+House+of+Dewberry+1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="320" width="294" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-XaM6WmxJfME/UDsQ3GumFCI/AAAAAAAABSE/U-aKXodZmqM/s320/Skull+Candles+House+of+Dewberry+1.jpg" /></a></div>
<br> I made one in every color : )</br>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-x8klfKV2V18/UDsZiKhM8iI/AAAAAAAABSs/IBXpxzhwzF4/s1600/Skull+Candles+House+of+Dewberry+v.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="320" width="228" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-x8klfKV2V18/UDsZiKhM8iI/AAAAAAAABSs/IBXpxzhwzF4/s320/Skull+Candles+House+of+Dewberry+v.jpg" /></a></div>

<br /></div>
Only 117 days until Halloween.
Last night with fire works exploding above my head, the smell of neighborhood barbeques and sulfur lingering in the air, I felt like the evil doctor as I feverishly worked to finish one of my creepy tree paper towel roll candle projects. This one is a stand alone with wicked wax dripping branches. <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Zf0e8pnwb_U/T_ZGLG9w9rI/AAAAAAAABBs/di-QgpXdYJc/s1600/Paper+towel+roll+Halloween+candle+6.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="320" width="319" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Zf0e8pnwb_U/T_ZGLG9w9rI/AAAAAAAABBs/di-QgpXdYJc/s320/Paper+towel+roll+Halloween+candle+6.jpg" /></a></div>
Notice the skull face among the roots.
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-XbXLjFGXR7o/T_ZGmFksLPI/AAAAAAAABB4/F5Q8ALGD9Xc/s1600/DIY+Paper+towel+roll+candle+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="240" width="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-XbXLjFGXR7o/T_ZGmFksLPI/AAAAAAAABB4/F5Q8ALGD9Xc/s320/DIY+Paper+towel+roll+candle+2.jpg" /></a></div>
Here is a night shot so you can get an idea of how the eyes light up.
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-NTc2nPLrFGg/T_ZOI0mRfMI/AAAAAAAABCI/6BsF4Wnfa_U/s1600/Halloween+Evil+tree+paper+roll+craft.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="320" width="240" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-NTc2nPLrFGg/T_ZOI0mRfMI/AAAAAAAABCI/6BsF4Wnfa_U/s320/Halloween+Evil+tree+paper+roll+craft.jpg" /></a></div>
Not the best depiction of what it looks like at night. My night photography sometimes lacks.

Summer is a great time to work on props, paper mache, paint, glues all dry faster in warm weather and you don't freeze to death while working outside. Just remember the sun screen. Here is a couple of projects I have been working on for Halloween 2012.<br/></center>
<br><center> <a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-CKffwZadUcY/T95v6Gx-CcI/AAAAAAAAA8Y/8C9tJ8A8QWM/s1600/1+orange+pumpkin.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="320" width="238" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-CKffwZadUcY/T95v6Gx-CcI/AAAAAAAAA8Y/8C9tJ8A8QWM/s320/1+orange+pumpkin.jpg" /></a> <br/></center>
<br><center>I used a lot of bright color this time on my pumpkins. For those of you that may be first time readers and are not familiar with my pumpkins here is a picture of Mask. He is done in my traditional black and white. <br><center><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-HlzkSCV30H0/T950IZT4k4I/AAAAAAAAA8o/nNYJrdcupbs/s1600/Mask+5.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="289" width="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-HlzkSCV30H0/T950IZT4k4I/AAAAAAAAA8o/nNYJrdcupbs/s320/Mask+5.jpg" /></a><br/></center>
<br><center> I stumbled upon these Soy Paints while browsing at Jo-Ann's fabric store and fell in love with the brilliant colors. They're eco friendly and mesh well with the handmade, recyclable, reuse, quality of my art. Upon discovering them I immediately wanted to incorporate them into my Halloween decor. This is what I came up with. I will definitely use these paints again.<br/></center>
<br><center><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-pwTRSyB-JEI/T952U0hjtDI/AAAAAAAAA80/zJftnNJ6tmE/s1600/2+orange+pumpkin.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="320" width="240" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-pwTRSyB-JEI/T952U0hjtDI/AAAAAAAAA80/zJftnNJ6tmE/s320/2+orange+pumpkin.jpg" /></a></br></center>
<br><center>The pumpkin is painted with Tangerine and dried brushed with sunflower, the candles with Lavender and the mud flower is Kiwi and sunflower.<br/></center> <a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-4nXsRKStiUw/T9531ujZatI/AAAAAAAAA9A/hBnY34zOQyg/s1600/5+orange+pumpkin.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="320" width="290" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-4nXsRKStiUw/T9531ujZatI/AAAAAAAAA9A/hBnY34zOQyg/s320/5+orange+pumpkin.jpg" /></a><br/></center>
The pumpkin itself is made from papermache, (news paper strips and paper clay), the candles are created from paper towel rolls and hot glue, and the flower is made from monster mud. Here is a link to how <a href="http://houseofdewberry.blogspot.com/2010/08/diy-halloween-project-black-candles.html">I make paper towel roll candles</a>.

<br><center> I hope this guy (which I haven't figured out a name for yet) inspires you even though it is only June! Halloween is right around the corner.<br/></center>
Here are some candles I have been working on as well, they're works in progress. I hope to be able to show them finished soon.

I painted the Jester skull and added some silver glittered bells to both of their hats. He is completely black and white with just a touch of silver on the bells which all work perfectly together with the lighter colors absorbing the reflection of the colored lights directed at him. He should make for a great display come Halloween night.

That is what comes to mind when I see these silly little creatures. Gourds and small pumpkins are a spooktacular addition to a well decorated Halloween table.I enjoy using both in my displays and at my Halloween feast. I came across these Fingerling Potatoes and couldn't help wondering how they would do as a Halloween prop. The only way I was going to find out was to get some and see what happens, so I did. I wasn't all that sure if they would dry up so that they would be useable or if they would just mold and decay. To my surprise and over time they did dry up but, before they did, they did what potatoes do when left to sit, they grew sprouts! Which turn out to be a good thing because it added to the creepiness factor. What you will need.<br />
<br />
1) Fingerling Potatoes ( How ever many you want to make)<br />
2) Black beans (with a white dot on them)<br />
3) Carving tool (or small knife)<br />
4) Something to cover your work space with. (even though there is very little mess with this project) <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-6luVoxW6yQk/TnbM-_OtVLI/AAAAAAAAAok/kkSz4XrQ_IA/s1600/Potato+Fingerlings+1.jpg"imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="150" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-6luVoxW6yQk/TnbM-_OtVLI/AAAAAAAAAok/kkSz4XrQ_IA/s200/Potato+Fingerlings+1.jpg" width="200" /></a></div>Step 1) Take your carving tool of choice and carve a little hole for the bean.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-EkIFibOd4Os/TnbNTg26GLI/AAAAAAAAAos/4z3ysrxu_-M/s1600/Potato+Fingerlings+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="188" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-EkIFibOd4Os/TnbNTg26GLI/AAAAAAAAAos/4z3ysrxu_-M/s200/Potato+Fingerlings+2.jpg" width="200" /></a></div>Step 2) Then add your bean. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-lFxZHEFTjMk/TnbNmrNJbvI/AAAAAAAAAo0/Bm_2X7J9_r0/s1600/Potato+Fingerlings+3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="188" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-lFxZHEFTjMk/TnbNmrNJbvI/AAAAAAAAAo0/Bm_2X7J9_r0/s200/Potato+Fingerlings+3.jpg" width="200" /></a></div>Step 3) Repeat on the other side. When you have finished with your other potatoes. They should look like this. <a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-s-ZFUPmBJlE/TnbN2WluNdI/AAAAAAAAAo8/qW7_KUpd-8k/s1600/Potato+Fingerlings+4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="188" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-s-ZFUPmBJlE/TnbN2WluNdI/AAAAAAAAAo8/qW7_KUpd-8k/s200/Potato+Fingerlings+4.jpg" width="200" /></a> They already look creepy just the way they are. They will get even creeper after a couple of weeks and end up looking like these guys. <br />

I have gathered a few of my favorites to share here.<br />
<br />
There are so many amazing Silhouettes Artists out there!<br />
<br />
My favorite animated silhouette this year is one I discovered on <a href="http://lovemanor.com/blog/archives/686">Love Manor</a> Created by Soyeon Kim and Todd Hemker at <a href="http://www.yellowshed.com/halloween.html">Yellowshed</a> for American <a href="http://www.americangreetings.com/ecards/happy-birthday/pn/3283461?navtype=etop102">Greeting.com</a> I hope you take the time to view it. You can even send it to your favorite ghoul or Goblin if you wish to... <br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.yellowshed.com/halloween.html"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-gO8OCbErlAo/TlQtm4ZssEI/AAAAAAAAAgU/2EZW8KTJbm4/s1600/Yellowshed.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="180" width="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-gO8OCbErlAo/TlQtm4ZssEI/AAAAAAAAAgU/2EZW8KTJbm4/s320/Yellowshed.jpg" /></a></div></a><br />
<br />
Here is another Silhouette artist I follow who I find very unique and creative. I love seeing what he will come up with next. <a href="http://killhouettes.com/page2.html">John Fair Killouettes<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-xRyodAdntOM/TlQ3IY1C5mI/AAAAAAAAAgc/xXQ5O08WLsQ/s1600/John+Fair+Killouettes.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="320" width="246" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-xRyodAdntOM/TlQ3IY1C5mI/AAAAAAAAAgc/xXQ5O08WLsQ/s320/John+Fair+Killouettes.jpg" /></a></div><br />
</a> The great thing about these is that you can purchase them and they also come on jewelry. <br />
<br />
<br />
Next is a How-to I found on <a href="http://creativeideasforyou.blogspot.com/2010/10/halloween-silhouettes.html">Creative Ideas For You via A Place to Bloom</a> this is so pretty, for those who are not so much into gore, but prefer a less extreme form of Halloween decor. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-U5xJ_ZQaZWI/TlQ7x05GoHI/AAAAAAAAAgk/bWDh6KH04nk/s1600/Bloom.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="240" width="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-U5xJ_ZQaZWI/TlQ7x05GoHI/AAAAAAAAAgk/bWDh6KH04nk/s320/Bloom.jpg" /></a></div><br />
<br />
Here is an inspiring way to decorate with Silhouettes. By <a href="http://www.pinkandpolkadot.net/2010/09/cheap-and-easy-halloween-decor.html">Pink and Polka Dot</a><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-2C2DV-cGJrI/TlQ_FQlS2dI/AAAAAAAAAgs/IXdKvESG1xw/s1600/Pink+and+Poka+Dot.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="320" width="213" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-2C2DV-cGJrI/TlQ_FQlS2dI/AAAAAAAAAgs/IXdKvESG1xw/s320/Pink+and+Poka+Dot.jpg" /></a></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-0cYNqg5Dq-w/TlQ_K63IFJI/AAAAAAAAAg0/DfFoTcc1qlo/s1600/Pind+and+Polka+Dot.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="222" width="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-0cYNqg5Dq-w/TlQ_K63IFJI/AAAAAAAAAg0/DfFoTcc1qlo/s320/Pind+and+Polka+Dot.jpg" /></a></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-X1N2DOF5Hag/TlQ_OVsJtMI/AAAAAAAAAg8/ELsXHdiXD0s/s1600/Pink+and+Polka+Dot+1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="238" width="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-X1N2DOF5Hag/TlQ_OVsJtMI/AAAAAAAAAg8/ELsXHdiXD0s/s320/Pink+and+Polka+Dot+1.jpg" /></a></div><br />
And here she has a How-to for this lovely silhouette <a href="http://www.pinkandpolkadot.net/2008/10/eat-crow.html">Eat Crow</a> <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-v0Vx-Is0r9g/TlQ_w74BPVI/AAAAAAAAAhE/NB-0vWGMTI0/s1600/Pink+and+Polka+Dot+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="320" width="240" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-v0Vx-Is0r9g/TlQ_w74BPVI/AAAAAAAAAhE/NB-0vWGMTI0/s320/Pink+and+Polka+Dot+2.jpg" /></a></div><br />
<br />
Here is another beautiful way to silhouette found on <a href="http://thepinkpeonyoflejardin.blogspot.com/2010/09/no-2-and-3-halloween-silhouettes.html">The Pink Peony of Le Jardin<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-z5rKLj0_77Q/TlRC0voNw3I/AAAAAAAAAhM/Ex09_2kVuy0/s1600/Halloween-Silhouettes-611x768.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="320" width="254" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-z5rKLj0_77Q/TlRC0voNw3I/AAAAAAAAAhM/Ex09_2kVuy0/s320/Halloween-Silhouettes-611x768.jpg" /></a></div><br />
</a><br />
<a href="http://thepinkpeonyoflejardin.blogspot.com/2010/09/no-2-and-3-halloween-silhouettes.html">She also shares her How-to and the printable silhouettes! </a><br />
<br />
And here is a cute silhouette I found at the dollar store which makes a great shadow silhouette! I used it in some of my product shots. <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-od88a2cT1pY/TlRS0zn7nEI/AAAAAAAAAhU/EwVV8YcIgRc/s1600/Copy+of+HOD+1+2011.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="320" width="240" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-od88a2cT1pY/TlRS0zn7nEI/AAAAAAAAAhU/EwVV8YcIgRc/s320/Copy+of+HOD+1+2011.jpg" /></a></div><br />

They did and to my surprise, these are not a flimsy paper craft,they are strong and durable they feel like rubber, they're flexible, so you do not have to worry about breakage and they're water resistant! I am sure if one wanted, one could add a sealant and totally water proof them. I really hadn't a clue how well a paper towel roll would work in place of the pvc pipe but I am so happy with the results. Of course after that first one came another and then another... <br />
<br />
<br />
The very first candles I made were stand alone individual candles, that I could place alone or in groups. <br />

My paper towel roll candle creations have become a huge part of my prop making.I hope you enjoy these as much as I do. If you would like to see my creepy candle how-to you can here <a href="http://houseofdewberry.blogspot.com/2010/08/diy-halloween-project-black-candles.html">HouseofDewberry creepy candle How-to</a><br />
<br />
You might also be interested in seeing where my paper towel roll inspiration came from <a href="http://www.garageofevilnetwork.com/profiles/blogs/pvc-candle-how-to">RavensHallow's How-to pvc candles</a>.On the Garage of Evil. She has an easy to follow tutorial on pvc candles which are different from mine, but are what inspired me. I came upon her candles and love them! I thought it would be fun to create them to use in photo shoots, Halloween displays, etc. At that time I didn't have any pvc pipe handy or the particular lighting for those candles, but, what I did have was paper towel rolls and tea lights!<br />
<br />
If you feel inspired and I hope you do; to make some of your own paper towel roll candles or pvc pipe candles I would love it if you send me a link or pictures to be featured here. <br />

She found it on her many travel through miscellaneous stores and shops around town. She is a notorious contributor to my, shall we call it what it is, my deconstruct rebuild habit.<br /><br />I had taken a couple of pictures of it before I started to work on it, it was a while ago that she found it, maybe a year or so. I had this thing kicking around the garage for a long time as I didn't have the time to work on it. Then one day I grabbed it and started to transform it with out thinking about taking more pics, but I though I would share it anyway.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-zdiBIaZ_UeI/ThEvNUvVYgI/AAAAAAAAAbw/rQPKRI7ytoQ/s1600/before+3.jpg"><img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-zdiBIaZ_UeI/ThEvNUvVYgI/AAAAAAAAAbw/rQPKRI7ytoQ/s320/before+3.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5625329315514507778" border="0" /></a>Maybe at one point it was pretty and I wonder where it was displayed. Was it a table topper at someones wedding or special event? I guess I will never know.<br /><br />The color combination I found interesting. It was yellow brown and orange and the flowers had kelly green glitter on them. The glass candle holders had an Italian green and gold lace frill around the base of them, with white lace covering the Styrofoam platform on which the candles base stood.<br /><br />I took it a part and painted the candle stand black, then put it back onto the platform. Then smeared it with monster mud, the lace, flowers and all. The center of it needed something so I made a paper mache skull painted it black and dry brushed it with white. Before adding the skull I made a nest with black moss for it to lay in. I took the flowers that I had made from monster mud and outlined them with black glitter to match the candles which I made from repurposed paper towel rolls<span style="text-decoration: underline;">, </span><a href="http://houseofdewberry.blogspot.com/2010/08/diy-halloween-project-black-candles.html"> find the how-to here</a> and covered them with scrap paper. How to on scrap paper candles to follow shortly for those who maybe interested. I mounted the candles and made the wax drips then painted them black and added black glitter to them to match the flowers. This is what it looks like now....<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-KnKD7FeQRUw/ThFiLEkBcjI/AAAAAAAAAcI/meXfPe-lKps/s1600/Tabletopper+5+watermark.jpg"><img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 208px; height: 320px;" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-KnKD7FeQRUw/ThFiLEkBcjI/AAAAAAAAAcI/meXfPe-lKps/s320/Tabletopper+5+watermark.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5625385351905374770" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><br />It is black and white with the lights on and looks gorgeous.
